Dr. Chavit Denninnart defended his Ph.D. dissertation, titled: Cost- and QoS-Efficient Serverless Cloud Computing, in November 2020 and became the 3rd Ph.D. graduate of the HPCC lab. Dr. Denninnart research and dissertation was about utilizing “reusing” and “approximation” in the serverless and function-as-a-service (FaaS) computing paradigms to make them cost-efficient without compromising their QoS. Dr. Denninnart has published several research papers and code releases on this topic. He is planning to stay with the HPCC lab as a postdoctoral researcher for another year (during 2021). Therefore, Dr. Denninnart is considered the first postdoctoral fellow of the HPCC lab. You can read more about Dr. Denninnart dissertation here.

Dr. Chavit Denninnart received his Bachelor of computer engineering in the Spring of 2013 from Kasetsart University in Thailand. He immediately began his pursuit of a master’s degree in computer science in the fall of 2013 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He completed it in 2015, and continued further to complete his doctorate in computer science in 2020. His research interests are: serverless cloud computing, cloud-based video streaming, task scheduling, approximate computing, and computational reuse. Denninnart was also a member of Ragin Cajun Cycling Team with some podium results.
